Friends of Letchworth State Park announce scholarship winner


York Central School senior Ryan Harcleroad has been awarded the 2022 Friends of Letchworth scholarship. 

Harcleroad is the son of Scott Harcleroad of Leicester and Tammy Pangrazio of Retsof. He will attend Finger Lakes Community College in the fall to major in fish and wildlife technology, with the hopes of pursuing a career in the Department of Environmental Conservation or the national or state park system.

Presentation of the $2,000 award was made by Letchwprth Park Manager Douglas Kelly at the “I Love My Park Day” gathering, Saturday, May 7, after Ryan’s presentation of his essay on “How the Legacy of William Pryor Letchworth has attracted visitors from all over the world.”

This year’s scholarship is funded by the Friends of Letchworth and by donations from individuals interested in promoting the state park through a scholarship program. The scholarship is awarded annually on the merits of a composition concerning some aspect of Letchworth and is open to senior class members of schools surrounding the park.
