Hare continues his undefeated season



The Warsaw wrestling team extended its dual meet win streak to three to start a busy week.  

The Tigers first traveled to Dansville for a contest with the Mustangs on Tuesday, Jan. 11, coming out on top 40-27.  

Picking up pins were Justin Baker, Daniel DeBadts, Hailey DeGroff and Connor Hare. Joe Gernegliano won a major decision while Landon Nickerson and Dawson Shelley picked up forfeits.

Warsaw traveled to Alfred on Thursday, Jan. 13 to take on Steuben power Alfred-Almond. The Tigers came out just short, dropping a close 34-28 match.  Recording pins were Baker and Hare. Gernegliano earned at major decision.  Jackson Conway and Nickerson were awarded forfeits.

The Tigers also traveled a few miles north on Route 19 for the Steve Garland Duals on Saturday, Jan. 15 at Pavilion.  The team finished a respectable 3-2 in the eight-team field.  

After a decisive loss to Attica/Batavia and a close loss to LeRoy, the Tigers ran off three consecutive wins defeating Steuben County League teams: Avoca/Prattsburgh/Hammondsport, 36-27; Arkport/Caneseraga, 45-24; and host Pavilion/York, 36-28.

Individually, Hare continued his undefeated season, going 5-0, including three pins. Conway, Gernegliano and Baker all finished 4-1. DeBadts and Shelley each finished 3-2, with DeBadts recording a pin and Shelly seeing two pins, including the winning points to defeat Avoca/Prattsburgh/Hammondsport.  

Also recording a pin for Warsaw was Hailey DeGroff.

The team travels to the Gowanda Round Robin tournament for its final tournament prior to Sectionals.
